When preparing for a PTE online test,
you must be aware of the types of exam questions that it contains. The PTE exam
has four parts: speaking, writing, reading, and listening.
In the speaking part of the exam, you will need to read aloud, describe
an image, re-tell a lecture, and answer short questions. As for the writing
portion, you will be tasked to summarize a written text and to write an essay
in 20 minutes. For the listening part, you will be tasked to fill-in-the-blanks,
highlight the correct and incorrect summary, select missing words, and write
from dictation. Lastly, for the reading portion, you will be tasked to answer
multiple-choice questions, reorder paragraphs, and answer fill-in-the-blank
questions.
If you have noticed, there are fill-in-the-blanks questions for both the
reading and listening parts. Basing on this, it is safe to assume that this
test type has a significant impact on your scores. However, the style of the
fill-in-the-blank question for both the reading and listening parts varies.
For the reading part, you will be tasked to read a paragraph and fill in
the missing words in the context choosing from the given selections. While in
the listening part, you will be tasked to listen to a recording and type the
answer stated in the record.
To help you answer the fill-in-the-blank questions in the reading
portion of your PTE online test, here are some reminders you need to know.
Answer briefly
When you start answering the fill-in-the-blank questions, find the most
concise and straightforward answer. Also, remember that there is only one
correct answer. If you are undecided between similar choices, try using the process
of elimination, and find the best answer.
Base on the following words
When you stumble upon a blank in the paragraph that you don’t know, try
finding clues in the nearby sentences. You could also look out for any grammatical
errors by matching up all the answers and eliminating the one that sound’s the
strangest.
Do not be deceived by the length
If you look at practice test questions on the Internet, you may notice
that the range of each blank is different. This means, do not base your answers
on the lengths of the blanks. Instead, find the right solution that best
matches the sentence.
Erase Practice Test
This personalized practice exam could greatly help in your PTE
online review. Before your actual exam, you could try the erase
practice test. This method is where you try finding a story text, and let your
family or friends erase some words in the paragraphs. In this way, you will not
know the answer, and you can try answering the blanks in the story as a
practice test.
These tips will not automatically guarantee that you will get a perfect
score. However, these could help you prepare yourself and gain confidence
during the exam. Check out more exam tips, study hacks, and many more on
