PTE Hacks: Mind Games That Boost Your Memory

Your PTE training can be a lot more fun if you incorporate the right strategies in your study routine. Even if you are at home or spending some quality time with your family or friends, you can still work on improving your English communication skills. One way to do that is by playing brain games.

Although lectures and mock PTE exams are effective means to acquire new knowledge, they can be exhausting and dull sometimes. This is when brain games become beneficial. Playing games can make learning acquisition more active and fun. They are designed to challenge your mind and activate your critical thinking skills. More importantly, they help improve your memory, cognitive ability, and reaction time. Mind games are built to keep your brain active and alert.

Here are some brain games that you can play to supplement your PTE training.

1. Crossword Puzzles
Answering crossword puzzles is one way to exercise your cognitive ability. In fact, studies show that there is a strong correlation between answering mind puzzles and the delayed onset of dementia. Play this game once or twice a week to keep your brain engaged. 

2. Jigsaw Puzzles
This is a fun way to engage your short-term memory. When playing jigsaw puzzles, you have to sort through a series of colors and shapes to assemble a picture. The more puzzle pieces, the harder your brain has to work. 

3. Video Games
Look for video games that require you to multitask. These games demand reactions on stimulus, such as a new setting or a familiar sign. It sharpens your ability to recall information or previous occurrences in the middle of solving a problem.  

4. Mobile Games
Mobile games, such as Lumosity, Fit Brains Trainer, and Elevate, are downloadable applications that you can play during your PTE review breaks. These applications test your mental skills, problem-solving ability, attention, and agility. There are mobile games that you can play alone or enjoy with friends. 

5. Sudoku
In this game, you will have to keep a series of numbers in your mind while mentally solving their proper placement in nine-space grids. When playing Sudoku, you will rely heavily on your memory. This makes it a good brain exercise.
