PTE Academic is
a three-hour English proficiency test with three main parts: Speaking and
Writing, Reading, and Listening tests. Each part consists of various task types
including multiple choice, essay writing, summarize written text, and fill in
the blanks. To complete a PTE Academic test, you must attend in a PTE online review course program to boost your
communication skills.
Preparing for
the PTE Academic test is quite challenging. Aside from enrolling in a PTE online review course program, you must seek for
various test-taking strategies that can help enhance your PTE preparation. However,
if you still haven’t been able to get near your desired PTE score in the
practice tests, then you need to evaluate yourself in the light of the mistakes
that you have committed while taking the mock-up tests.
To make your
task easier, below are the 5 most common mistakes that a test taker makes in the
PTE speaking test. If you want to reach your desired score, beware of them!
1. Speaking
before the short tone
When answering
each speaking task, test takers must pay attention to a short tone indicating
that they can now begin with their responses. However, some PTE examinees are
not attentive enough, speaking before the tone, causing them to get a lower
score in the speaking test. To avoid this, concentrate and keep in mind that
you need to wait for the short tone before responding to the speaking tasks.
2. Pausing
for a long time
In each
speaking task, always remember that if you remain silent for longer than 3
seconds, the recording will immediately stop. Avoid this by planning out what
you are going to say before responding. Doing so will minimize the chances of
you pausing or forgetting your response.
3. Flat
tone of speech
Many PTE test
takers are not aware that they should not speak in a flat tone as the PTE
examiners will find it difficult to understand their responses to the PTE
speaking task. When speaking, put a stress on important words or phrases and
avoid speaking in a monotone.
4. Speaking
too fast
Some people
tend to speak too fast when they are nervous or stressed. As a PTE test taker,
it is essential to talk clearly and calmly when answering the questions. Relax
and stay optimistic during the PTE speaking test.
5. Using
too many fillers
Most test
takers use fillers while thinking of an idea or concept for their responses.
Some of the fillers used by many PTE examinees are the words “like” and “um.”
Remember that you are being assessed on your ability to showcase a wide range
of vocabulary, so you must avoid using these filler words when speaking.
Are you guilty
of committing these mistakes? As a student in a PTE
online course review program, it is essential that you recognize and
accept these errors so you can work on how to rectify them properly.
