The exam’s Speaking section assesses your ability to communicate using the English language. You will be asked to repeat sentences, respond to questions, and summarize passages. In preparation for the English proficiency exam, it is important that you carefully select which PTE packages best cater to your learning demands. It has a bearing in improving your English communication skills and in your actual exam performance.

To aid your review, here are proven ways that will help improve your Speaking exam score.

1. Speak moderately
Keep a good rhythm. Do not talk too fast or too slow. Since the PTE exam is computer-based, it is essential that the algorithm records every word you utter. Experts recommend practicing by reading English newspapers and magazines out loud. Another technique is to observe how your PTE review center instructors deliver lectures. It gives you a clue on how to maintain your speaking speed without running out of breath.

2. Articulate properly
Make sure that you enunciate words clearly. Practice at home and record your speech. Pay close attention to your articulation. Are the words clear enough? If not, repeat and record again until your words sound clear.

3. Avoid using filler words like “umm” and “ah”
Filler words reduce the clarity and quality of your speech. The best way is to organize your ideas before speaking. Slow down and think of the words you are going to say next.

4. Speak at your natural pace
Keep it natural. Maintain a balance between proper pronunciation and speaking speed. Just relax, and keep in mind all the speaking tips given to you in your lectures. Also, be mindful of your intonation. It helps in emphasizing the critical points of the texts you are asked to read.

5. Use pauses strategically
Do not pause for more than three seconds as it results in dead air. Also, remember that you are given ample time to read the texts and deliver your answers. Again, the key is to slow down and use pauses to give yourself some time to think.

Choose the PTE packages that best suit your learning needs. Follow these tips to improve your Speaking score and achieve your exam goals!
