- Use the booklet
The PTE examiner will give you a blank booklet at the beginning of the exam. Use it well. Write down the questions in the listening exam’s “Fill in the Blanks” section so you’ll know what to listen for. Jot down all the important details you hear in the “Summarize Spoken Text” section. Find out other ways the booklet can help you secure success by enrolling in a PTE review center. - Pay attention to your grammar and punctuation
Grammar and punctuation are not only important in the writing exam but in the listening test as well. Double-check everything you type. Here’s a great tip for pinpointing grammar errors: reread what you wrote from the bottom to the top. The reversed transition of ideas forces your brain to re-evaluate the text. Enroll in a PTE review center to learn more proofreading techniques. - Make the most out of the ten-minute break Go to the comfort room, do stretches, hydrate, or engage in breathing exercises. Meditate and stop thinking about the errors you think you committed in the first two sub-tests of the PTE Academic exam.
- Raise your hand during emergencies
PTE Philippines review center instructors often overlook this topic in their discussions. If you suddenly feel dizzy or sick, raise your hand to catch the attention of the examiner. You’ll be given a short break. The PTE facilitator will either take you to the center’s clinic or let you access your personal belongings to take your medication (if you have any). The examiner won’t let you use your digital devices, however, as it can be used to cheat or leak the exam.
- Type your notes
Unless you’re a touch typist and an experienced multitasker, don’t type your notes. Stick to writing. It’s easier to erase, rearrange, and insert information to your notes when they’re on paper. Learn how to shorthand and other writing techniques during your preparations for the PTE Philippines exam. - Listen to the recording with high volume
You’ll only hurt your ears and induce a headache. If you can’t understand the audio material, slowly raise the volume. Stop at the point when you can hear the speakers clearly. - Change your computer’s settings If the brightness of your monitor is too much, let the PTE facilitator know. Don’t make any changes on your own. Any attempt to alter the system is viewed as malpractice and can result in the invalidation of your test attempt and cause your immediate dismissal from the exam site.
- Endure technical issues
Let the PTE examiner know that your computer is malfunctioning. If the glitches can’t be fixed immediately, you’ll be assigned to a different computer.
