How to Break Out of Study Slumps

Studying for a life-changing exam, even with the best PTE preparation online course available, is a challenging and mentally exhausting task. So, don’t be surprised if you experience study slumps and burnouts. This article focuses on the former. Read on to find out what you can do to when you can’t muster the motivation to continue your PTE review.

  • Don’t stop your PTE online test review efforts. Even if you really don’t feel like practicing your communicative skills or reviewing your training materials, don’t give up. Continue your study efforts. Stopping will only make it harder for you to get back in the groove.
  • Plan your review. If you don’t have a study timetable, now’s the time to develop one. Determine how many days you have left before your PTE test date and everything you need to do and learn for the exam. Assign PTE review tasks accordingly.
  • Keep your review objectives realistic. Otherwise, you’ll only overwhelm yourself and possibly trigger another study slump. Be mindful of your limits. Punctuate extensive training sessions with breaks.
  • Surround yourself with supportive, and like-minded people. They’ll help you climb out of your slump. Avoid negative people, especially those who doubt your abilities.
  • Study with other people. It’ll help you stay on track of your PTE training and build up your study motivation. You find a review partner, join a study group, or enroll in a PTE preparation online.
  • Take care of yourself. Did you know that your physical health affects your cognitive functions? Got inadequate sleep? You’ll likely struggle to maintain your awareness during your review sessions. Skipped a few meals? You’ll probably have a hard time focusing on your lessons. So, take care of yourself. Eat well, get enough sleep, stay hydrated, and exercise regularly.
  • Keep reminders of what you’re taking the test. For example, if you’re taking it to migrate and join your relatives abroad, keep photos of your family and your target country in your study space. If you’re taking it to enter your dream university, decorate your study nook with the school’s banners and colors. It’ll help you keep your eyes on the prize.
Be kind to yourself if you’re experiencing a study slump. Accept that it happens, don’t beat yourself up for your unproductivity, and take measures to overcome it. Follow these tips, and you’ll soon be back on the right mindset for PTE online test review!
