Whether you are studying on your own or
preparing with one of JRooz Review’s PTE review packages, the ingenious note-taking tips below will definitely enhance
your training experience. Consider them during your test preparations.
1. Highlight key points.
Doing
so will make it easier for you to pinpoint important information. There are
many ways to emphasize a statement when writing. You can:
·
outline
them with a highlighter
·
underline
them with a colored pen
·
place
them in a geometric shape
·
enclose
them in hand-drawn ribbons or banners
·
encase
them in a thought bubble
·
jot
them down in a font style that’s distinctly different from the text surrounding
them (e.g., write them in print if you used cursive)
2. Spice up your penmanship.
Don’t
confine yourself to a single writing style when jotting down notes during your PTE packages sessions. Stylize your penmanship. You
can:
·
use
broad-tip pens for headings and subheadings
·
jot
down key notes with colored pens
·
imitate
bold lettering styles like 3D when writing titles
·
accentuate
statements with dotted lines
·
emphasize
information by adding additional strokes to their letters
3. Use a color system when highlighting information.
It
will help you keep your notes organized. Gather all the colored pens, markers,
and highlighters that you have. Pick out the most distinct, light-colored ones.
Then, assign a purpose to each hue. For example, green corresponds to key
definitions while yellow indicates vocabulary words. Think you’ll have a hard
time remembering what each color signifies? Label your highlighters.
4. Jot down helpful information.
Lectures
aren’t the only things that you need to take note of during your PTE review packages sessions. Jot down the following
information as well for future reference.
·
PTE
session date
·
The
title of the textbook/handout
·
The
page(s) of the textbook/handout
·
Any
mentioned supplementary material
·
All
the questions raised and answered during the class
5. Make the most of sticky notes.
Sticky
notes are some of the most underrated note-taking devices out there. Maximize
them. You can use them to:
·
add
more information to your previous notes
·
amend
previously established information
·
separate
your notebook into sections
6. Utilize graphic organizers.
Integrating
charts, graphs, tables, diagrams, and other visual organizers into your notes
will help you bring order to your lessons.
They
will also help you simplify complicated lessons.
Are you thinking of relying solely on
your mobile device for your “note-taking” needs? Consider the advantages of
handwriting your notes. Not only will it improve your understanding of your PTE packages lessons, but it will also help you retain
information better. So, don’t remove note-taking from your study habits. Keep
your notes engaging and organized with these tips to enhance your review
experience.
