PTE Academic is a computerized examination. This means you’ll have to answer all three test components (Speaking & Writing, Reading, and Listening) using the test equipment provided by the test administrators. If you’re not computer savvy, don’t worry. You don’t need to have an extensive digital know-how to secure your grade goal.

You only to get the basics down. And, the fact that you are reading this article right now means that you have already mastered the basics. Also, keep in mind that you can ask the test facilitator for assistance if you’re experiencing issues with your computer.

Myth #4: You need to have an accent to pass the test
Truth: You don’t need to have an accent to pass the test

Many test takers spend most of their Pearson Test of English Academic review period developing an accent for the exam. Don’t be one of them. Having a British or American accent have no bearing on your PTE grade. As long as you were able to demonstrate your linguistic skills well, you can get great results.

Myth #5: You need to focus more on one of the test components because it weighs more than the others in the overall grade
Truth: All the components (e.g., reading, listening, etc.) weigh the same

Here’s another popular myth about the exam. Many test takers believe that because one of the test components are more difficult than the rest—this usually varies depending on which section the taker doesn’t like—it follows that it’s graded higher than the others. So, they dedicate most of their Pearson Test of English Academic review to that preparing for that section. Don’t commit the same mistake.
