- Listen to the recording carefully. Pay attention to the essential information and supporting details of the academic lecture.
- Write down all the key points that you hear on the recording. Use the erasable noteboard booklet that will be given to you during the exam.
- Before you listen to the recording, check the image on the screen. Doing this will provide you with the overview of the lecture.
- Organize all the information you get from the recording. Write at least 3–5 sentences about the lecture. Make sure that you only indicate the most important details in your response.
- Don’t attempt to speak while the recording is still playing or else your response won’t be recorded. Remember that you are allowed to respond on each item once.
- If you repeat any ideas, commit a mistake or hesitate to speak, you will just waste valuable time and lose score points. If these things happen, just keep talking, correct yourself and ignore any mistakes that you make.
- Speak clearly. Don’t just focus on the content of your response. You also need to have a clear pronunciation and a good oral fluency.
